Dear Guests, as an AIDA family we have a responsibility for each other. The health of our guests and crew always comes first. For this reason, high hygiene and safety standards have always applied on board our ships, which go beyond legal requirements and which we have now strengthened with additional measures. Thank you very much for your support and your trust!

Safety suits you well: with distance and mouth-nose protection

  • As on land, so also on board: Guests and crew please keep at least 1.5 meters distance to other persons. The mouth-nose-protection is mandatory for guests and crew in all indoor areas, except in restaurants and bars on the course, in the gym, during sports courses and obviously in the cabin. In outdoor areas, the obligation to protect mouth and nose only applies if the minimum distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained.
  • We support the distance regulations by adjusting the capacity utilization of the ship and all areas on board, staggered arrival and departure procedures, optimized check-in, intelligent guidance systems and, wherever possible, expanding digital contactless as well as telephone services.
  • To ensure that you are always on the safe side ashore, discovery tours are initially only available as part of guided AIDA excursions. The increased hygiene and safety measures also apply here.

Hygiene and cleanliness: additional measures

  • On the day of arrival as well as during the voyage, all ships are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
  • Increased cleaning and disinfection measures are carried out according to a fixed schedule in the cabins and in all public areas.
  • All cabins and public areas are continuously supplied with fresh air.
  • Additional disinfectant dispensers at check-in, in all public areas as well as in front of restaurants, stores, spa and fitness areas.
  • All measures and processes are comprehensively trained. For the monitoring of compliance as well as ongoing training and further education of the crew, the hygiene officer on board is responsible.

Stay healthy: Prevention before and during the journey

  • Each guest needs to provide information on the state of health and risk-increasing factors with regard to COVID-19 before the trip and at check-in.
  • A COVID-19 PCR test with a negative test result is a prerequisite for travel.
  • Before check-in, each time a guest leaves or enters the ship during the voyage, as well as during check-out, a contactless measurement of the body temperature is performed. A team of doctors is also available to clarify symptoms or other indications.
  • Before and during the trip we inform our guests continuously and comprehensively about our current health measures and rules of conduct on board.
  • All crew members are subject to COVID-19 testing before ascent and regularly during their deployment on board.

In good hands: best medical care

  • In our modern medical centers on board we have expanded the team which is available around the clock for our guests and crew, even in an emergency.
  • The ships are equipped with state-of-the-art COVID-19 test kits and diagnostic equipment for immediate evaluation of suspicious cases.
  • On board we have sufficient facilities for necessary individual isolation in the Medical Center or in cabins provided for this purpose.
  • Our medical staff is trained in the relevant test procedures and treatment methods.
  • If COVID-19 is suspected during the voyage, a free medical examination including COVID-19 test is performed on board.*

*The costs of any necessary further medical treatment on land and medically justified return transport are borne by the guest. Therefore we recommend the conclusion of a foreign travel health insurance.

Strong partners: worldwide network of experts

  • Our comprehensive health concept and measures for dealing with suspected cases and confirmed COVID-19 diseases were developed with medical experts and are based on the current recommendations of leading institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the German Robert Koch Institute (RKI) as well as the respective applicable regulations in Germany, Italy and the destinations.
  • The independent auditing company SGS Institut Fresenius has audited the comprehensive hygiene concept of COVID-19 Hygiene and Prevention Measures and will verify this after the start of the voyages on board.
  • We continuously observe the current development and are in close contact with renowned medical experts, the responsible authorities and institutions as well as our partners in the destination areas.
